Demons Close Season Against Nightmare, Honor John Newman With Memorial
The Delco Demons close their season out this Saturday, March 30th against the New Jersey Nightmare.
Games start with the Orange Minors at 6pm, followed by the Elites at 7:30pm, and closing out the night with the Black Minors at 9:30pm. While all three Demons are all but locked into their playoff positions, the Nightmare have the ability to climb with a few wins in both divisions, so the games are sure to be hotly contested.
Before the Elite match up, the Demons will be honoring the loss of John Newman, original Voice of the Demons, with a tribute and banner raising ceremony, and moment of silence. John lost his battle with cancer earlier this month, leaving us all mourning his absence. Please join us Saturday in remembrance of a great man.
Tickets can be purchased at the door. General Admission is $5, and Loaded Tickets can be upgraded for $25 to include all you can eat and drink, with food provided by Slack’s Hoagie Shack, and beverages provided by Pepsi and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.
The Demons will be taking on New England Division opponents this weekend, as the AIHL Festival takes place at the Feasterville Sportsplex this weekend. All three teams will be in action against different New England clubs, highlighted by the Long Island 495ers, Hartford Fireants, and the first year Empire State Legends, as well as the New York Terror, New Jersey Surge, and New England Insanity.
28 Hockey teams will take the floor this weekend in the elite and minor divisions. For more information on Demons game times, check our our Calendar page under the Information menu.
We will be providing game updates all weekend long with live blog posts of scores, recaps, pictures, and video right here on www.delcodemons.com, so stay tuned on this site, Facebook, and Twitter for more!
Ratcast, the AIHL’s radio show, is scheduled to broadcast the East Coast Festival starting around 2pm on Saturday March 2nd. Demons Pass The Halfway Point, Looking Strong And More To Come
The Delco Demons have passed the halfway point of this season for all three teams, and are looking strong despite the work ahead to finish the year. With a first ever matchup against the New Jersey Nightmare this weekend, and the Mid-Atlantic vs. Northeast Festival next weekend, the Demons are poised to take on the remaining challenges they face this year.
The Demons Elites are setting the pace for the division, holding 1st place with a 13-0-0-1 record and 4 games in hand over the second place Liberty, who are 5 points back. Jack Phelan leads the way with 15 goals, while AJ Ehinger leads in assists (13) and points (23). With 8 players of 12 posting double digit point totals, the Demons are incredibly deep. At the goaltending position the even balance remains, with Kozik leading the way with 7 wins, and Maczynski undefeated with 6 wins and a 1.67 GAA. Following the matchup this weekend with the Nightmare, the Elites look forward to the festival games including a prime-time match against the 495ers, and close the season out with a rematch against the Liberty and Nightmare at home.
The Demons Minor Black team closed their half of the season clinging to 2nd place in the division, by dropping two games to the Pittsburgh Bandits in Pittsburgh and an 8-3-1-0 record, and look to rebound this weekend against the Nightmare. The Dangelantonio Brothers continue to lead the team in all three major categories, with Nick leading assists (11), and Joe leading goals (22) and points (25). Justin Brennan leads the way with a 5-2 record in net, while Steven Stewart posts a 2.80 GAA. Following next weekend’s festival, the Black squad closes out the season with a home and home series against the Central Jersey Fanatics, and the Nightmare at home on the 30th.
The Demons Minor Orange team (4-6-0-0) picked up their pace last week and took out the Bandits in two big overtime wins, propelling them into 5th place in the division. Dominic Gricco leads the way in goals (6), while Vince Panaccio leads in assists (6) and points (9). Sean Yingling leads in net with 2 wins, and Craig Fultz has the best GAA (2.71). The Orange squad has the most games remaining, following the festival with games against the Fanatics, Liberty, and Nightmare, and look to keep on the winning track this weekend with more wins on the road.
This weekend holds a rare Sunday afternoon tilt in Voorhees, NJ, with the two clubs being so close geographically. Minor Black kicks off the action at 1pm, followed by the Elites at 2:45pm, and Minor Orange at 4:45pm. Join us on the road and help us possess the Nightmare’s home rink. Tickets are only $5 for admission to all games.
The Delco Demons Elites and Minor Black teams are heading south to take on the Richmond Robins on the road this Saturday the 26th. Games begin at 12pm EST, and will be aired on The Robins internet broadcasting channels - www.ispn3d.com and www.livesportsvideo.com.
Saturday will start up with a heavy rivalry in the minor division at 12:00, as the Minor Black team split with the Robins at home during the season opener. The Demons have to find a way to start early and try to take 2 games from the Robins, with second place in the division within grasp. The Elites will look to continue their winning ways at 1:30pm against an improved Robins Elite team. The Robins haven’t been in action since taking on the Cougars the same weekend as the Demons home opener.
The Demons and Cougars organization took over the news this weekend with a home and home series, marking their first and last match-ups this season.
The action started Saturday Night at The Hockey Dek in Springfield, PA, when the Cougars and Demons Black minor teams kicked off the weekend with a split. The Demons went down early in game 1 and weren’t able to recover, losing to the Cougars 5-1. Game 2 was a different story, with the Demons and Cougars trading goals in the first period, and Demons pulling away in the second, for a 7-5 victory.
The Elites followed with a tightly contested first game, which the Demons took 3-2, despite a second period surge by the Cougars. The second game of the match-up saw the teams trade goals in the first period, only to have the Demons explode for 4 goals in the second period, and take the game 7-2.
Back in action on Sunday morning, it was the Demons Orange Minor team to start things off against the Cougars. The Orange team struggled in the first game, falling 9-1 to the Cougars, but were able to turn it around in the second game with a better defensive strategy. Unfortunately, scoring didn’t follow suit, and they again fell to the Cougars, 3-0.
The Elites again suited up against each other in New Jersey Sunday afternoon, and the Demons picked up where they left off, winning the first game in convincing fashion, by a score of 7-1. In game 2, the Demons kept it going, holding off a late desperation run by the Cougars, for a 7-4 win.
With the 4 win sweep of the Cougars, the Demons Elites sit in second place (9-0-0-1) behind the Liberty, with 6 games in hand, and the Cougars fall to third. With their 3 wins, the Cougars minors climb into 1st place, while Demons Black sits in third behind the Robins, and Demons Orange remains in fifth place.
Next up for the Elite and Minor Black teams is a trip to Richmond, VA to take on the Robins. This is a big conference match-up for the Minor Division, as the teams split earlier this month, and second place is up for grabs. The Minor Orange team is off until February 16th on a trip to Pittsburgh, PA, with the rest of the Demons club.
The Demons are headed north to take on the Philadelphia Liberty at the Northeast Racquetball Club.
The night will kick off at 7:30pm with the Elite Division. Demons Elites enter the contest 4-0-0-0, while the Liberty Elites sit in first place at 9-5-0-0. Demons are led in scoring by Jack Phelan (7) and AJ Ehinger and Kevin Keene lead in assists (4), while Brian Fischer leads the Liberty in goals (18) and Chris Altomare leads in assists (16).
Next up is back to back matchups in the minor division, with the Liberty hosting both the Demons Black and Demons Orange teams. The Liberty are 4-6-0-0, while Demons Black is 3-1-0-0 and Demons Orange is 2-2-0-0. Leading the way in scoring for the Liberty is Joe Carpino and Shane Ryan (5), and leading in assists is Mike Malvestuto (5). For Demons Black, Joe Dangelantonio leads in scoring (8) while his brother Nick leads in assists (5). For Demons Orange, Rob Basquill leads in scoring (4) while Vince Panaccio leads in assists (3).
This matchup proves to be a pivotal one for all teams, as the Liberty Elites look to halt a 6 game losing streak, while the Demons look to continue their undefeated ways. The Liberty Minors halted a 5 game losing streak of their own in OT in December. The Demons Minor Black and Demons Minor Orange both look to continue after their sweep of the Bandits last week, with the opportunity to climb above the Liberty in the Minor Division standings within reach.
Stay tuned for more details, but the Demons swept the Bandits in dominating fashion this weekend. Scores and stats will be posted shortly, but the Demons posted 6 more wins on Sunday, putting the club’s record at 9-3.
The Demons Elites are currently sitting in 3rd place with 8 points. The Demons Black Minors are 3-1, and currently sitting in 4th place, while the Demons Orange Minors are 2-2 and tied for 5th place.
Up next for all three teams is a set of road games against the Philadelphia Liberty. The Liberty Elites (9-5-0-0) and Minors (4-6-0-0) have a significant head start in games played, as they started their season at the beginning of December with a mini festival against Richmond and Pittsburgh. This is already a strong rivalry, as the teams are a mere 45 minutes apart, and the Liberty Elites eliminated the Demons from the playoffs in their inaugural season. Games start at 6:00pm Saturday, January 12th. Check out www.aihlhockey.com for more.
The Demons opened their 2012-2013 season with 3 wins Saturday night, kicking off what intends to be a big rivalry with the Richmond Robins at the Minor League level.
The Demons Black Minor Squad fell to the Robins in game 1 4-1, but bounced right back winning game 2 8-1. Joe Dangelantonio led the way with 5 goals in game 2, with his brother Nick kicking in 4 assists. Dominic Denker is already contributing, as he scored his first goal on American soil, after arriving last week from Namibia.
The Demons Elite team blanked the Robins 3-0 and 10-0, as JJ Fichter led the way with 4 goals on the night, with everyone registering a point in the two games.
The Demons Orange Minor team fell to the Robins in both games, 3-0 and 2-0. Defensively responsible, but missing a scoring touch, the team will look to rebound today against the Bandits.
Sunday action kicks off at 9:30 am against the Pittsburgh Bandits, with all three teams in action.
Due to a technical difficulty, we weren’t able to live update yesterday as expected. We’re working on resolving that, but in the mean time, stay tuned to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates.
The Delco Demons open their second season this weekend with back to back home games against the Richmond Robins and Pittsburgh Bandits. It’s been a long off-season, and an even longer preseason. By condensing the schedule after the holidays, the club hopes more continuity will lead to a second season even more successful than the first. Games against the Robins start at 6:00pm Saturday night, and the Bandits come in at 9:30am Sunday morning.
More paramount to the potential for a big year is the addition of elite talent, and the deepening of the depth chart to include the addition of a third team. Last year’s elite team returns it’s core, and to balance the loss of Eric Keene, Frank Szilagyi, Mike Marconi, Jason Allen, and Justin Brown, the Demons have brought in big names including JJ Fichter, Tom Youmans, Mike Maczynski, Adam St. Clair, Mike Longo, and Jon Donohue. At the minor level, the Demons have added a second team, splitting last year’s returning players in half, and adding an incredible amount of depth, including Joe and Nick Dangelantonio, Matt Hellhake, Tom Pflaumer, Eric Hansell, Mike Sabol, Pete Zwolak, Phil Leroux, Dominic Gricco, Joe Hutchison, Alex Tarczynski, Bob Sherwood, Xavier Ramirez, and Dominic Denker. Denker comes to the Demons all the way from Namibia, Africa, the same town as Otwin Foerster, who returned home after last year.
All of the Demons award winning touches for the game day experience will be back this year, and more. This year the Demons will be offering waitress service for their season ticket holders, new locker rooms for visiting teams and officials, exciting giveaways, prizes, and more. Get your tickets online today @ www.delcodemons.com/SeasonTicketSale Loaded Tickets are available for purchase at the games, entitling the buyer to all the perks of a season ticket, including all you can eat and drink, as well.
The Robins elites have opened their 2012 season with a record of 3-4-0-0 with big wins over the Bandits, and close losses to the Philadelphia Liberty in early December. The Robins minors have soared early in 2012 with a perfect record of 4-0-0-0 against the same teams. The Bandits have struggled so far in the 2012 season with a record of 0-7-0-0 in the elite division and 1-5-0-0 in the minor division, against the Liberty and Robins. Both teams should prove to be a challenging start to the season for the Demons, especially if the Bandits can get all of their talent, including Dustin Roux, to Delco.
Stay Tuned for live updates this weekend, including photos, videos, and game recaps for all 12 games of exciting, non-stop action.

The Delco Demons are proud to announce their AIHL Club Roster. The tryout process this season, though much early this calendar year, produced the deepest tryout the region has seen in some time, resulting in 3 AIHL rosters poised to compete and win this season.
It is yet to be determined how the AIHL will structure the addition of secondary minor teams this year, and as such, divisional rosters will be held until the picture is more clear at the national level. Without further delay, your Delco Demons:
With final calls from tryouts looming in the near future, the Demons will host their final tryout session this Saturday from 1-4pm at The Hockey Dek in Springfield, PA. This session is by invite only, and cost is included in the open session registration players have already completed. Coach Sobel will use this session to make the final comparisons necessary to fill out the rosters for the 2012-2013 season.
After the past three weeks, including both open tryout sessions in early August, and an immensely successful two-tier iron man tournament last week, it is certain to be a long and tough decision making process. With so much in the works, it is sure to be a proud moment when these rosters come together, which will be fast. Practices will start September 1st with a mandatory skate and team meeting for all those extended a roster spot.
Congratulations to our winning teams from each division in our first Iron Man tournament of the season. Details on the next event will be posted soon!
Stay Tuned September 1st for the first big announcement of the season… Your Delco Demons…
The first day of tryouts is complete, and only one thing is certain; This club is going to be very competitive in both divisions this season.
More than half of the expected attendees skated during the first of two open sessions yesterday, and coach Sobel put it best: “There isn’t a bad player on this floor.” Making these teams will be a real accomplishment.
With the recent website outage, it’s obvious that information didn’t get out at large about tryouts coming up. Here is everything you need to know…
The Demons are holding tryouts for the coming season, and are looking to fill three competitive rosters. An AIHL Elite, AIHL Minor, and Prospect roster will be filled from this one tryout. For more information, read the writeup under “Tryout Registry” or the Tryout Announcement article below or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Tryouts will serve as our first look to improve on our rosters from last season. All spots will be earned by those attending, and all decisions will be made by our Head Coach, Brian Sobel. You can get all the information from the article below by scrolling down.
Be sure to bring a white and black jersey, preferably with your last name on the back of both to each tryout.
The Hockey Dek in Springfield, PA. For Directions, check out the page under the “Information” menu above.
Open Tryouts are Saturday, August 4th, 2012 and Saturday, August 11th, 2012. You aren’t required to attend both sessions to be eligible for the callback session on Saturday, August 25th, 2012, but as with any tryout, the more we see you, the better your chances are of making a team. All three sessions will run from 1-4pm, and Registration will start at 12pm. We expect all players on the floor by 12:45pm for warmups, unless we are otherwise informed of a need for lateness.
How Much? Tryouts cost $50 for new players, and $25 for returning players. This flat fee covers all of your rink time. Players should all register online or in person with a $25 deposit. Our policy is to charge a $25 processing fee for all late registrations. Typically, this would be enforced Midnight, the day before the first session, but with this website outage we’ve extended the early registration window to include the week in between the Open Sessions.
And the biggest question… Why? Because the Delco Demons are the premier organization in the area, with an award winning staff and family atmosphere. This is your chance to join the family. We hope to see you on the rink at tryouts, and wish you the best of luck.
The Delco Demons site is up and running live again, and improvements will be rolling out rapidly as the season approaches. We’ve upgraded the back end to allow live posting from events as the year goes on, including photo galleries, video, and full articles, giving you real time results and news throughout the coming year.
We’ve also started developing a new feature for this year, the Demons Locker Room, where players can go for up to date information, alerts, and schedules for their teams. This will be released before the season begins, and we’re excited for the potential this will hold for the club.
If you see any problems with the site, want to give us some feedback, or have a great idea for us to implement, send us an email to email@example.com

We will also be offering Prospect Contracts at our discretion for players we would like to keep involved in the organization. These standby players will fill the new Prospect roster to be used in regional and national tournaments, as well as in a farm system for the AIHL division teams. All player personnel decisions will be made by the Head Coach, Brian Sobel, with input from our Owner, Jason Kelly. These teams will be organized and captained by the Delco Demons franchise players, and will run $150 each for Demons members. Players will be given the option to opt out of this men’s league commitment with an upfront payment of $300. Additional expenses incurred over the course of the season are the responsibility of the player, including playoffs, equipment, and travel, and can be covered through fundraising and/or sponsorship.
Fundraising opportunities will be provided with enough bandwidth to make the season free, for the player committed to participating to the fullest extent. Fundraisers will include, but are not limited to: Bi-monthly Iron Man Tournaments, Season Ticket Sales, Demons Swag Sales, Game Day 50-50 Raffles, Philadelphia Sports Season Ticket Raffles, ESPN Magazine Subscription Sales, and Beef and Beer celebrations. In addition, team and player sponsorship packages will be available. Each type of fundraiser and sponsorship opportunity will contribute differently to the club and player, and all details are outlined in the Demons Handbook.
For this commitment of time, energy, and money, you will be a part of the 2012-2013 Demons Organization. This will include game time participation in the AIHL Elite and/or Minor League seasons as dictated by the Head Coach, weekly men’s league games and practice time on Thursday evenings, additional practice camps on Saturday afternoons when games are not scheduled, a full Demons Gear package (uniform, warm-ups, t-shirt, hat, and practice jerseys), and access to exclusive team discounts on any Revision brand products, and further discounts on orders through The Hockey Dek Pro Shop. The AIHL regular season lasts from December through the end of March, with divisional playoffs in April. We will be attempting to push the season’s start into January if possible this season to truncate the length of the year. Finals have not yet been announced, but typically are held at a vacation destination over Memorial Day weekend. Elite and Minor divisions play a 24 game season. Home and Away games are double headers, and will be played on Saturdays between 6 and 10pm and Sundays between 10am and 2pm. There will be 5 home dates, and 5 away dates against divisional opponents. The remainder of the season will be played against out of division opponents in a festival format. These festivals have not yet been announced, but likely locations include Pittsburgh, PA and/or Long Island, NY. More information on the league can be found at www.aihlhockey.com.
New players should fill out and return the “2012-2013 Player Registration Form” attached to their confirmation email and return by email at your earliest convenience.
